Who We Are

From the humble beginnings of the Waldoboro Food Pantry, each of our volunteers has had a heart to serve the community and see a meal on the table of our neighbors each and every night.

Since the 1970’s the Waldoboro Food Pantry has existed to serve those in the greater Waldoboro area. Each food pantry day, volunteers distribute packaged goods, eggs, milk, bread, fresh fruits and vegetables to anywhere from 110 to over 150 households.

The Food Pantry has occupied a number of different facilities over the years, and always served its clientele on a walk in basis. When the pandemic hit Maine, the Waldoboro town manager stepped in and offered to help distribute food on a drive thru basis at the Town Office. Volunteers from the Town Office, the Fire Department, Police Department and other organizations stepped up to make the drive thru food pantry an overwhelming success. We have incorporated the drive thru experience at our new location at 124 Friendship Street.

Our entire board, manager and support staff are volunteers. They have come to us through connections with the Lions Club, the town, and word of mouth in the community. The food pantry operates 100% on donations. Our donations come from individuals, businesses, towns, churches, and other community organizations. We also receive donations in the form of food, toiletries, pet food, and other household items from charitable locals.
